Restoring the balance in your life

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I am a reflexologist and holistic therapist based in Wandsworth & Streatham, South West London.

About Emily Champ.

I am a reflexologist and holistic therapist based in Wandsworth & Streatham, South West London.

I was a regular reflexology client for many years and felt inspired to train as a reflexologist in 2014 so that I could pass on the wellbeing benefits I felt to others.

My background is clinical, working previously as a dentist for over 20 years. With my existing anatomy knowledge (especially of the head and neck area) I have continued with further training in advanced facial reflexology and natural face lifts.

I work with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) 5 Element Reflexology and Gentle Release Therapy as well. I’m fascinated by energy channels and incorporate acupressure points and energy release into treatments. I really feel this promotes the relaxation and wellbeing benefits to my clients.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (No 24853) which is recognised by most insurance companies and provide the following treatments.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non invasive therapy which involves massage and pressure techniques using the thumbs and fingers on the reflex areas found in the feet and hands. It is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet and hands and face correspond to each organ and structure in the body. These reflexes are like ‘mini maps’ of the body and are linked to those organs by energy channels, zones or meridians.

Potential Benefits

As well as being relaxing, reflexology can help with many health conditions by encouraging the body to heal itself. It is also very helpful in pregnancy at any stage. If this applies to you then please feel free to contact me, as I may very well be able to help. Click here to learn more about some of the conditions reflexology can help with.

Health

When illness occurs in the body, the corresponding energy channels become blocked, and reflexology is applied to help the body to remove these blockages, allowing the energy to flow freely again, so restoring the body's natural balance and good health. It is a wonderfully relaxing holistic treatment.

Reflexology can be used to help treat many conditions including:

Digestive disorders e.g. IBS

Migraine / headaches

Joint / back pain

PMS (premenstrual syndrome)

Sleep disorders

Menopause

Pregnancy - helping with conception, during pregnancy and in the late stages from 37 weeks to get ready for the birth.

Infertility

Sinus problems

Stress related conditions

The History of Reflexology

Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, and was practised in India and China. The therapy was introduced to the West in 1913 by ear, nose and throat surgeon Dr William Fitzgerald, who developed a system called 'Zone therapy'. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone and used acupuncture needles on the feet to achieve anaesthesia on other areas of the body for surgery.

In the 1930's, Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is known as reflexology. Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body and by treating the feet these could be relieved. It has been practiced in the UK since the 1960’s and has become more and more popular and established as a complementary therapy.

Typical Reflexology Session

A foot reflexology appointment involves massage and pressure application treatment to the feet. You can choose to sit back or lie on a couch with your socks and shoes off. During and after the treatment you will experience a very relaxing and calming feeling.

Single appointments are available to aid general wellbeing, or a course of treatments (approximately four sessions) may help with particular condition/s.

I offer a complementary 15-minute consultation prior to your first treatment to explain reflexology and assess medical conditions and lifestyle. I use this to help plan the best treatment for you. All information will be kept confidential.
